Colorectal Cancer Awareness Event in Effingham


EFFINGHAM - HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital supports 80% by 2018 Initiative with open house November 2nd. St. Anthony's will hold a Colorectal Cancer Awareness open house from 7 am. to 9a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 the St. Francis Room Auditorium. Eligible participants over age 50 may come to the event to receive a free FIT take home stool test or receive assistance in scheduling a colonoscopy. St. Anthony's support a shared goal to have 80 percent of adults aged 50 and over to be regularly screened for colorectal cancer by 2018 as led by the American Cancer Society, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. Colorectal cancer is the nation's second leading cause of cancer related deaths when men and women are combined. However, routine screening can prevent colon cancer or find it at an early treatable stage.
