DECATUR – In an update to a story WAND News has been following, a former bus driver will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was found guilty of sexual assault.

40-year-old Michael Wilhelm, of Decatur, was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday afternoon. Wilhelm was found guilty last month of sexually assaulting three girls under the age of 14. According to the victims, he threatened to kill them if they reported the abuse.

Two of the girls were under the age of 13 at the time of the assaults. The other was 14.

A Macon County jury recently convicted Wilhelm on all ten counts of sexual assault.

Now, Wilhelm will be in prison for life without parole. During sentencing on October 18, Wilhelm asked for a new trial, but he was denied.
