Leaf collection dates announced for Springfield residents

SPRINGFIELD - The City of Springfield has announced the start date of this year's Fall Leaf Pickup program will be October 31.

Each Monday, until December 5, citizens will be able to place brown paper leaf bags, or plastic containers weighing no more that 50 pounds and able to hold 30 gallons or less, on their curbs for collection.  Collection will begin at 7:00 a.m.

Officials also say metal cans, as well as plastic bags and overweight containers and bags will not be picked up.  Additionally, residents will be able to bring their yard waste to 2100 J. David Jones Parkway, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
