Discovering Central Illinois - November 18

November 18  -  Champaign

                        Foellinger Auditorium

                        709 S. Mathews Ave.

The Foellinger Auditorium is one of the oldest buildings on the University of Illinois Campus and was dedicated in November 1907. It was designed by 1877 Illini alumni architect Clarence H. Blackwell. There was not enough money to build his planned facility so he scaled back his plans to not include wings and an upstage. In 1983, alumna Helen Foellinger (1932) gave a generous gift to complete the facility and the auditorium was renamed after her. Famous people have spoken in the auditorium from John Phillip Sousa, Robert Frost, Eleanor Roosevelt, Maya Angelou and Bill Gates.

WAND Chief Meteorologist JC Fultz, WAND Anchors Dawn Sterling and Kathleen Cohen will be broadcasting live at 4, 5 and 6pm. Reporter Michon Lindstrom will join them.
