FBI believes missing U of I student was kidnapped

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The FBI continues to help in the search for a missing scholar from the University of Illinois. They are now treating the case as a kidnapping.

Officers say 26-year-old Yingying Zhang, a visitor from China, went missing Friday afternoon. Surveillance video showed her getting into a black Saturn Astra at around 2 p.m. at the corner of West Clark Street and North Goodwin Avenue. The car then drove away.

They are offering up to a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the location of her.

Zhang was last seen wearing a charcoal-colored baseball hat, a pink-and-white top, jean, and white tennis shoes. She also had a black backpack.

The FBI believes the driver of the car was a white male.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI's Springfield Field office at 522-9675.
