ALMH offering Safe Rides in Lincoln on July 4

Posted: Updated:

LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) - With the Independence Day drawing nearer, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Community Health Collaborative is taking steps to help prevent those who celebrate with alcohol from getting behind the wheel.

ALMH officials say Safe Rides will be available in Lincoln for those who need it on Independence Day.  Individuals needing a ride can ask a bartender at any participating establishment for a Safe Ride ticket, which will provide a safe way home for those who live in Lincoln's city limits.

ALMH Community Health Collaborative Director Angela Stoltzenburg says, "Safe Ride helps to keep our streets safer on nights when children and families are more likely to be celebrating away from home. Our hope is that the community will remember that the service is available and choose not to drink and drive."
