New Museum Targets Kids and Adults

URBANA, Ill. (WAND): A new Urbana Children's Museum is a hit with both kids and adults.

Spark Museum & Play Cafe is located in the Lincoln Square Mall.

"It's a play date haven," Sonya Darter, the museum's Executive Director, says. "We've had a lot of people meet up and meet new friends, too."

It's been open for a little longer than a week and has been explored by more than 500 people.

"It's cute because you can see the little marks on the windows from where kids had there noses pressed up against it," Darter says.

The museum is designed to be enjoyed by both parents and kids. An organic cafe features food and spirits, while remaining in view of the different play exhibits for children.

"The inspiration for me was creating a place that I wanted when my children were little," Darter says. "Meaning a place that I could come, engage with them, meet friends, have a place to hang out, sit and read a magazine. Kind of a combination of a respite and also something to be inspired by."

Admission into the museum is $5 for both adults and children. Free parking is available. The museum is open until 8pm.
