State's Attorney reviewing ISP report of officer-involved shooting

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Macon County State's Attorney Jay Scott says he has received a report from Illinois State Police regarding the officer-involved shooting of Donald Redmon on May 31.

Illinois State Police were investigating whether the officer-involved shooting was justified, and have sent their report to Scott's office.  Scott tells WAND News that his office received the report on Thursday, and that he will only make a decision after thoroughly reading the full report.

The officer-involved shooting happened in the 800 block of South Webster in Decatur.  Decatur police say that Detective Jeffrey Hockaday fired shots during this incident, striking Donald Redmon, 33.  Redmon was taken to a local hospital, and after being released was taken into custody on multiple chargesAnother man, identified as Dallas Vorties, was taken into custody during the initial incident.

WAND News has issued a FOIA request for the Illinois State Police report into this incident, and will provide more information as it becomes available.
