CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois State Police say one person was injured after a three-vehicle crash in Christian County Thursday afternoon.

ISP officials say the crash happened on Illinois Route 48, near County Road 1900E, at about 3:10 p.m.  According to the preliminary investigation into the crash, a 2005 International truck-tractor grain-trailer, 2013 Scion TC, and 2016 Chrysler Town and Country were traveling southbound when the Chrysler put on its left turn signal and began to slow down in an attempt to turn onto County Road 1900E.

Troopers say the Scion also reduced its speed as the Chrysler slowed to turn, and that the truck-tractor failed to reduce its speed, striking the rear of the Scion, which then struck the rear of the Chrysler.  Officials say the driver of the Scion was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the truck-tractor, identified as a 74-year-old man from Lincoln, was cited for following too closely.
