Rock Island bridge dedicated to fallen ISP Master Sergeant

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (WAND) - A bridge in a northwestern Illinois community has been renamed in tribute to a fallen Illinois State Police Master Sergeant.

State lawmakers and ISP officials joined family members to rename the Centennial Bridge in Rock Island to the Master Sergeant Stanley Talbot Memorial Bridge on Monday.  Officials say Master Sergeant Talbot was killed in a hit-and-run crash on June 23, 2001 while supervising a roadside safety check at the foot of Centennial Bridge.

Illinois State Police Director Leo Schmitz says, "It has been 16 years since Stanley’s passing and we have not forgotten.  Stanley’s service will be forever commemorated with this bridge dedication."
