PAXTON, Ill. (WAND) – A total of six people had to be hospitalized after a crash between a pickup truck and an SUV.

Illinois State Police say the 1998 Ford pickup was heading westbound on Ford County Road 500 North, reached a stop sign, then collided with a southbound 2014 Buick Enclave as it moved through an intersection with U.S. 45. The Buick was traveling on 45 when the crash happened after noon on Wednesday.

Two of the injured people were sitting in the back of the truck without seat belts. All injured passengers went to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

WAND-TV’s partners at The News-Gazette say 22-year-old Rankin woman Heather Claeys was driving the Ford during the crash. Officers ticketed her for failing to make sure a child was secured properly and failure to yield.

80-year-old Onarga man Gordon Seggebruch was driving the Buick.
