Rep. Davis makes stop in Springfield to discuss tax reform

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - U.S. Representative Rodney Davis (R-IL) joined with representatives of the U.S. and Illinois Chambers of Commerce to speak with small business owners in central Illinois on Tuesday.

Rep. Davis' visit is part of a month-long tour of his district, during which he will meet with business owners and other community officials to discuss a tax reform bill being worked on in Congress.

According to Rep. Davis, the federal tax code is long overdue for an overhaul.

"Our federal tax code has not been overhauled in 31 years.  The last time we had tax reform, Top Gun was the highest grossing film and the Bears won the Super Bowl.  It's time for an overhaul," said Rep. Davis.

Rep. Davis' next stop will be in Bloomington on August 2.
