New stores coming to Hickory Point Mall

FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) – New stores are coming to the Hickory Point Mall, according to leaders with the Village of Forsyth.

The Village said they are excited to have Sunrise Bakery and Hibbett Sports come to the mall. A third business, Knockerball Max, also told WAND-TV they would soon be in the mall.

Sunrise Bakery specializes in Amish-style baked goods. They are a Decatur-based bakery with a location at 2022 Mount Zion Road. The baker will be open on Friday and Saturday beginning this week.

Hibbett Sports is a full-line sporting goods store and will open this fall in the old Limited location. Sunrise Bakery will have kiosk in the mall.

Knockerball has not yet released when they will be opening, but they will be located in the old Hallmark location.

"These additions further emphasize the strength of the retail sector in Forsyth," says Village of Forsyth Community & Economic Development Coordinator Andrew Zupkoff. "Hickory Point Mall faced a couple of unfortunate store closures earlier this year due to corporate bankruptcies. Just as we expected, though, the tremendously talented staff at CBL Properties have rebounded admirably and continue to be an invaluable asset to the Village."

Forsyth continues to look for additional commercial companies and continue the development of a new TIF district.
