Company hosts free community carnival

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A carnival looked to bring the Decatur community together this week.

The Northeast Community Fund organized a free community carnival for Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its future home, located on 839 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

“The reason we decided to host the carnival here off our new location off Martin Luther King is to help people get some awareness of where we are,” said Regan Deering of the NCF. “We’re excited to be neighbors with (the) new Crossing Healthcare and the social service campus idea is pretty exciting.”

The Northeast Community Fund still operates out of a North Water Street location. It's still working on fundraising for the Martin Luther King site, which is planned to take up 20,000 square feet.

The carnival featured face painting, games and other things for families to do together. WAND-TV’s Storm Runner car was on hand for the event.
