DECATUR, Ill (WAND)- Michael Dawson is battling terminal brain cancer. But however, difficult the journey has been he continues to keep a smile through the pain.

Dawson says, "I don't count the days, I make the days count." His famous saying among friends and family who went above and beyond to help him cross off an item on his bucket list.

A hot air balloon ride granted with the help from Lincoln Mayor, Seth Goodman. Goodman says, "I had a good friend at the age of ten that passed away from the same thing so I wanna  make sure that he gets every opportunity to get to experience what he wants to experience. Cause we all know life is pretty short."

There will be another benefit for Dawson on September 9th at the Old Brickyard Pub and Grill at 10:00 a.m.
