Knitters needed to give back


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Memorial Health System needs your help to give back to babies.

Volunteers are needed to crochet or knit tiny red hats for babies born in February. The hats are part of the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign, which raises awareness for congenital defects and heart disease.

If you’d like to help you have until Jan. 18.

The hats will be laundered, packaged and delivered to participating hospitals in Illinois, including the three Memorial Health System hospitals that deliver babies: Memorial Medical Center, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln and Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

Drop off locations include any Illinois National Bank locations. Last year. Over 90,000 hats were made across the nation.
