SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Police say a fight at an IHOP restaurant led to a stabbing.

They say the fight happened after 4:20 a.m. Monday at a restaurant in Springfield (2600 Sunrise Dr.), when a group of people came in and caused what officers called a “disturbance” with a large group as they ate. Police say the two groups went outside of the building.

Officers say the stabbing happened while the groups were outside.

Memorial Medical Center in Springfield told police they treated a person for a stab wound, but said that person refused to say who injured them. Police say the stabbing injury is not life-threatening.

The stabbing left only one person injured. Springfield police are continuing to investigate on Monday.
