New legislation to make roads safer moves to the House

GREEN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois senate has approved a plan meant to make roads safer. Through this plan, local road authorities could use state and federal money for safety improvements like striping decayed lines.
The legislation came after outcry in Greene County over a stretch of road called the Hillview Blacktop. Neighbors reported dozens of crashes in the area. One crash even killed a man last year. The state senate approved the bill late this week and sent it to the Illinois House.
