Local business targeted by vandals

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A business was vandalized Friday night when a paint can was thrown across a newly painted parking lot.

According to Decatur police, the vandalism was discovered when an asphalt company owner stopped by the O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store on 2315 N. Oakland Avenue where he restriped the parking lot.

Police say the 12-foot-long yellow paint streak appears to be caused by a paint can being thrown and bursting open on the ground.

The vandalism has been classified as criminal defacement of property.
