Online voters choose top Illinois historic sites


(WAND) - Online voters chose the top historic sites in Illinois as part of the Illinois Top 200 project for the state's bicentennial.

The number one site was Lincoln's New Salem, the state-run site that recreates the village where Lincoln lived as a young man.

Number two was Pullman, a Chicago neighborhood and national monument and state historic site that focuses on a historic strike and manufacturing site.

John Deere in Grand Detour and Lincoln's Home in Springfield came in at numbers three and four.

Number five was Cahokia Mounds. Number six was Route 66. Number seven was the Old State Capitol. Number eight was Fort de Chartres. Number nine was Fort Massac. Number ten was Reagan's Home.
