Police: Men shot into car as it drove past

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) – Police say four people suffered gunshot wounds in two different Danville shootings.

They say the first happened after 6 p.m. Saturday, wen two people in a car drove past several men who stood near the corner of Redden and Fairchild streets. Police say the men started yelling at the car and fired gunshots into it.

A man and woman, both 18, were wounded. Only the man needed hospital treatment for an ankle wound.  A bullet grazed the woman’s leg.

Police say a second shooting happened after 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Main St. They say someone who was outside at the time started shooting into a party happening in the area. That shooting wounded a 35-year-old Danville man and 27-year-old Bismarck woman.

The woman, who suffered leg and chest wounds, is in stable condition at a Champaign hospital. The man was treated and released, then arrested by deputies on a Vermilion County warrant.

Police say they do not think the shootings are connected.
