District plans to deny Champaign charter school proposal

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign School District plans to deny a proposal to start a charter school.

That is according to an agenda that was released for the Wednesday board meeting.

The school, North Champaign Academy, would have been geared towards low-income and low-achieving students and would have been located in the 1400 block of West Anthony Dr.

The board noted administrative concerns with the organization of the proposal and said it failed to "comply with substantive aspects of charter school law."

The school board will vote on the issue during a special meeting Wednesday evening.
