20-plus cars damaged in Illinois business fire

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – A total of more than 20 cars ended up damaged when a fire broke out at a Champaign plant. 

Firefighters say they arrived on scene at Rockwell Automation (2802 W. Bloomington Road) to find seven cars heavily involved in a fire in the parking lot of the business. Their initial response happened after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews used multiple hose lines to put the fire out. They say nobody was injured in the. 

A person from a neighboring business told the station that Rockwell was working to evacuate people at about 2:30 p.m.'

Firefighters say the fire remains under investigation on Tuesday night. A cause is unknown at this time.
