CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – A burning garage damaged two homes in the Champaign area.

Firefighters say they responded to 803 Bellepark Drive at about 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, where they found flames covering a two-car detached garage. They say the fire ended up spreading to two houses next to the garage.

Crews needed several hose lines to contain the fire.

The people living at 803 and 805 Bellepark Drive are now displaced because of the fire. The flames did not leave behind any injuries.

Firefighters say they’re still investigating the fire and have not named a cause.

“The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan,” firefighters said in a press release. “Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.”
