Volunteers needed for University YMCA Dump & Run program

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The University YMCA needs volunteers and donations for their annual Dump & Run recycling program.

The event keeps over 20 tons of unwanted goods out of the area's dumpsters and landfills every year.

Volunteers work alongside YMCA staff to collect unwanted items from dorms and community donations in May and sell the items at a low cost in August.

Volunteers would help collect, sort, and pack reusable items from campus move out and spring cleaning, starting as early as May 2.

To volunteer any time during the month of May, click HERE or call the YMCA at 337-1500.

Those who donate six hours or more of volunteering get first dibs on the things collected.

The University YMCA will be collecting donations on May 2, 3, and 4 from 8 a.m. through noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Drop off all accepted donations in the back (west side) of the University YMCA's building, 1001 S. Wright Street, Champaign.

The University YMCA will also be providing free pick-up days for furniture and bikes that people want to donate on May 8 and 9. To request a pick up, click HERE
