EFFINGHAM -- If you want to be a major league pitcher, move to Effingham.

At least that's what the data tell us, now that the town of 12,000 has three pitchers in the big leagues.

On Wednesday Effingham High graduate Nick Gardewine joined fellow Flaming Heart Chad Green (Yankees) and St. Anthony's Dan Winkler (Braves) in the game's top level when he was called back up to the Rangers from Triple-A Round Rock.

Gardewine appeared in three games in early April and allowed two earned runs to go with four strikeouts. He appeared in 12 games out of the bullpen for the Rangers last season after being called up from Double-A Frisco.

The 24-year-old is a 2012 graduate of Effingham High and spent a year at Kaskaskia College before being drafted in the seventh round of the 2013 draft by Texas.
