Taylorville to vote on school resource officer

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - The Taylorville City Council will vote on whether to add a school resource officer.

The council will vote Monday night.

The officer would spend time between Taylorville High School and Taylorville Junior High School.

If the council passes it, the district would reimburse the city for 176 days of base salary for the position.

Taylorville police already have enough officers on staff to be able to assign someone to the position without having to hire any additional staff.

The council meeting will be 7 p.m. at the Taylorville Municipal Building
