Family hosting birthday party finds park covered in graffiti

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A family hosting a birthday party at a Decatur public park found the pavilion covered in obscene graffiti when they arrived.

"There were expletives that were throughout the whole park," Corey Walker said. Walker helped organize the birthday part for his three-year-old granddaughter.

The Decatur Park Police are asking for the public's help tracking down three to five juveniles they say are responsible.

"You had it on the tables. You had it on the walls," Walker said. "This is not a big city. This is a small community."

Police said the park was vandalized between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on May 6.

"If you see activity, strange activity, going on in your neighborhood parks, they need to get the message," Walker said. "Call somebody."
