Pokemon Go hopes to score big in second annual event

CHICAGO, Ill. (WAND) – An event centered around the popular game app Pokemon Go is returning to Chicago.

Last year the event left many attendees unhappy when technical glitches kept fans from logging on and participating in the game.

Organizers say they have learned their lesson and according to developer Niantic Inc., the Pokemon Go Fest 2018 will be held in Lincoln Park during July.  This announcement comes only weeks after the app creator settled a class-action lawsuit for roughly $1.6 million.

Last year’s technical difficulties forced Niantic to issue a full refund for ticket holders and a credit was issued for use of the app.

John Hanke, Niantic CEO, says the company is excited about returning to the city.
