Governor attends 25th annual Illinois Fallen Firefighter Memorial


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Governor Bruce Rauner is attending the 25th annual Illinois Fallen Firefighter Memorial Tuesday morning.

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Firefighter Memorial on the Illinois State Capitol lawn in Springfield.

The Fire Fighting Medal of Honor Awards Ceremony honors firefighters for serving their communities.

The Clinton Fire Department will hoist the American Flag for the service for the second year.
The ceremony will also feature the newest fire engine for the department as well as a red American LaFrance truck in Springfield.

Over 2,000 firefighters are expected to attend to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
