SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – Emergency call service is now restored for phones in Sangamon County.

The AT&T 9-1-1 Resolution Center says callers served through the Springfield White Oaks, IL Remote Central Office were unable to call 9-1-1 on Tuesday. Service returned before 8 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the Sangamon County Emergency Telephone System Department.

A press release sent earlier Tuesday said callers were losing dial tone in some cases because of a “network event”.

County leaders say the outage affected about 2,000 AT&T customers who used landline phones.
