URBANA, Ill. (WAND) – An Illinois man is going to prison for drug and cannabis-related crimes.

Stacy Smith, 47, will serve 10 years behind bars for meth production and cannabis possession. The News-Gazette reports county investigators found nearly 20 ounces of meth when they searched his house on June 8, 2017. The home is located in the 200 block of Urbana’s Brady Lane.

The newspaper says police found meth that was still in the cooking process, along with scales, chemicals and packaging. The search also showed Smith was growing seven cannabis plants outside of his backdoor.

The paper says Smith admitted to growing the cannabis for nearly a decade, but only for personal use. Urbana police investigator Matt Quinley says informants bought meth from Smith twice in controlled purchases.

Smith’s guilty plea led to other charges ending up dropped.
