Middle school student sentenced for bringing stun gun to school

URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A Champaign teenager was sentenced to two years probation after admitting to bringing a stun gun to Jefferson Middle School.

The 15-year-old will have to perform 50 hours of public service, write a letter of apology, and follow rules set by his mother, including an 8 p.m. curfew.

He pleaded guilty last month to bringing the stun gun to school on March 9 and keeping it in his locker.

Another student saw it and called his mother, who then told school officials.

The teen was suspended from the school and is receiving home schooling from the district.
