Ball-Chatham School District promotes new school safety campaign

CHATHAM, Ill. (WAND) - The Ball-Chatham School District is laughing their #SpeakUpForSchoolSafety campaign.

The movement is designed to encourage kids to speak up if they see something posted on social media, in texts, or any other outlet that could be considered a threat to school safety.

Police said often people speak up too late after a tragedy happens, revealing information that may have helped prevent incidents.

Students are urged to go to a trusted adult, a principal, teacher, counselor, a member of the school security staff, or police if they suspect something is wrong.

There is also a "Quick Tip" form on the Ball-Chatham School District website where anonymous tips can be submitted.
