SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – A fire completely destroyed a car over the weekend in Springfield.

Firefighters say a worker at Elk’s Lodge in Springfield (409 E. Lake Shore Drive) saw smoke coming from the hood of their car as they entered the parking lot of the business just before 3 p.m. on Sunday. That smoke then turned into fire in the black Dodge Avenger.

Crews say they contained the fire to just that car, which appeared to be damaged beyond repair under the hood. They say the car is unusable at this point.

There were no injuries.
