Resolution proposed to make Effingham Co. sanctuary for immigrants

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A resolution has been proposed to make Effingham County a sanctuary for immigrant families.

Karen Luchtefeld brought the resolution after opposing resolutions supported by the rest of the Effingham County Board. Those resolutions made Effingham County a sanctuary for guns and unborn children.

Some board members said it needs to be made clear whether the sanctuary status applies to legal or illegal immigrants.

Luchtefeld could not get a second to her motion on the resolution, but County Board Chairman Jim Niemann said he would review it and discuss it at a later time.
