SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Several people suffered minor injuries in two Springfield car crashes.

The first crash happened at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers say the first in a trio of cars moving southbound on 13th Street hit one car that tried to turn from 13th onto Oak Street from the opposite direction.

Police say the car trying to turn then hit a tree. Nobody in that crash needed hospital treatment.

Officers say the second crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and 6th Street. They say a person who came from out of town was trying to navigate and didn’t realize they were on a red light, then hit a car as it came into the intersection on a green light.

The driver of the car that was hit complained about neck pain and went to a hospital to be checked on. Police say no injuries were visible on that person.
