Lincoln police to hold open house at new headquarters

LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) - The Lincoln Police Department is holding a public open house to show off their new headquarters.

The open house will be Wednesday night from 6 to 8 at the new location at 710 Fifth St. That is the old Jefferson Elementary building.

The new location gives them more storage space for evidence and interrogation rooms.

The 15,000-square-foot facility is divided into separate areas for entry, training, police administration, investigations, records, processing and evidence storage.

A new training room seats 50 people.

The department plans to relocate to the new facility by August 1.
