Danville man guilty of trying to bribe juvenile sex assault victim

DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Danville man has been found guilty of bribery by a jury.

Keyvell Lewis was charged on Dec. 27 with multiple counts of sexual assault to a juvenile female.

While those charges were pending, Lewis talked to the victim's mother and said if the state did not have a witness, they would not have a case. He told the mother to flee with the victim or have the victim come to court and say he did not do it.

Later, he told the victim to come to court and say she lied about him assaulting her.

He told her he had $8,000 at home and would take her shopping if she dropped the charges.

He has past convictions for armed robbery, forgery, and robbery.

He will be sentenced on Aug. 22 and faces six to 30 years.
