Police: Walgreens store robbed at gunpoint

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) – A manhunt is underway for a suspect accused of robbing a Walgreens at gunpoint.

Police say it happened after 2 a.m. Wednesday, when a man went into Walgreens (1713 W. Springfield Ave.) and told a worker to empty cash registers. Officers say he had a silver handgun with him and ran from the scene to the southeast with cash.

A press release from officers says the suspect had on a light gray hoodie, dray gray pants and black gloves. They believe he is black, 5-foot-9 and weighs about 170 pounds.

Tips submitted to Crime Stoppers could mean a reward of up to $1,00 if it leads to the right arrest.
