BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) - A Bloomington man accused of injuring four police officers has been formally charged after being arrested Monday.

22-year-old Justin Johnson was charged Wednesday with unlawful use of weapons by a felon, armed habitual criminal, three counts of resisting arrest and one count of aggravated battery of a police officer.

Police said two men were walking in the middle of the road near Oakland Ave. and Evans St. When officers tried questioning them, they said one of the men, Johnson, began acting suspiciously.

They said he was trying to hide his hands and ignored commands from officers.

When they tried to get control of him, they said Johnson fought back, and a handgun fell out of his pants.

Four officers got minor to moderate injuries during the struggle.

Arraignment for Johnson is set for July 20.
