'Pay Your Age Day' lines close at Build-A-Bear

(WAND) - Lines for Build-A-Bear's "Pay Your Age Day" are so long the company had to shut down the lines.

The chain announced they would hold their first ever "Pay Your Age Day" on July 12. However the company didn't realize how popular the event would be.

"Please be aware: Based on the unprecedented response to our Pay Your Age Day event in our early opening stores, we are experiencing significantly longer than expected lines and large crowds. Local authorities are requiring us to limit the lines and crowds due to safety concerns. We understand this is disappointing, we are working to address the situation, and we will be reaching out to our valued Guests soon," the company posted on their website.

The event meant you could bring a child who is two and only pay $2 for their stuffed animal. The most any one would pay was $29.

In response to the long lines Build-a-Bear distributed vouchers to guests who were present in line to be redeemed for future purchase.
