SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – A figure skating club donated thousands of dollars to a central Illinois hospital.

HSHS St. John’s Hospital says it claimed $4,500 from the Springfield Figure Skating Club. The hospital said the money is meant for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital.

Olympic figure skater Jason Brown joined the club when they gave the gift. He was able to take an up-close look at the NICU in a tour.

“We are so grateful for the support of community organizations like the figure skating club, who raise money to support our smallest patients. (We) also appreciate it when public figures, like Jason, take the time to stop by and say hello,” a Facebook post from the hospital said.
