Girl Scouts reveal 30 new badges


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois and Girl Scouts USA are revealing 30 new badges and two new Journeys.

Badges will recognize accomplishments in topics like cybersecurity, environmental advocacy, mechanical engineering, space exploration, and robotics.

Girls Scouts report girls who participate in the program are twice as likely to exhibit community problem-solving skills as girls who don't.

The new programming for girls in grades 6–12 includes:

  • Environmental Stewardship badges
  • Robotics badges
  • College Knowledge badge
  • Think Like a Programmer Journey
  • Think Like an Engineer Journey

Girls in grades K–5 can now earn badges in:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Space Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
