91 dogs rescued from home with horrible conditions

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - 91 dogs were rescued from horribly conditions in a home in Macedonia.

It took officers 12 hours to remove all of the dogs. Many were stacked in cages. Others were running loose.

Police were called to the home due to a foul odor.

When they got there, they found the animals surrounded by feces and urine.

Three people were taken into custody at the Franklin County Jail and could face charges for abuse and neglect. However, they have not been identified at this time.

Protecting Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), a rescue group out of Jacksonville, Ill., drove in to help take more than half the animals.

They are asking for donations to help offset the cost of providing that care.

Perry County's Humane Society took in three dogs from the rescue. They are unable to take in more due to their small size.
