Community discussion on trauma to be held


DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur groups are hosting a community discussion focusing on trauma and trauma response.

The Trauma Informed Partnership, comprised of the Regional Office of Education, The Community Foundation of Macon County, Illinois Education Association, and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine are hosting with members of law enforcement, healthcare, education, and faith-based and community organizations.

Some of the goals of the discussion include bringing the community together to learn about the impact of toxic stress, educate people on how stress impacts the brain and communication, and exploring ways the community can address stress related to traumatic experiences.

The discussion will be from 12:30 to 3 Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Ameren Illinois Building in the JPIC Auditorium.
