Debate on whether to dissolve Capital Township takes new turn

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The debate to dissolve Capital Township is taking a new turn.

Mayor Jim Langfelder said he is working to collect signatures to put the question on the April ballot.

Earlier this year, the city council reviewed a proposal to annex the township completely.

But the council tabled the motion.

This means in order to get it on the ballot for the November election, it must pass with a super majority vote.

The Springfield City Council has until the 20th to pass it.
