Police: Man fired semi-automatic weapon at person

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Police say a man opened fire on someone in a Decatur neighborhood.

Officers arrested Devante Hall, 23, who they say took out a semi-automatic pistol and fired at least one round at the victim at about 3 a.m. on Aug. 5. Police say he took the weapon of his pants pocket, adding that he did not have a valid FOID card for it. 

Police did not say if the person he's accused of firing at was injured.

Officers added that they found a cartridge casing at the scene in the 2100 block of E. Wood St.

Hall has two convictions on his record for controlled substance violations. He’s charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm, along with an armed habitual criminal count.

Hall’s bond is set at $150,000 in Macon County.
