EFFINGHAM -- The Flaming Hearts are coming off a breakthrough season in which they won nine straight games and advanced to the 4A playoffs for the first time in the Brett Hefner era.
Hefner's squad will look a lot different this season. 15 starters graduated, including 9 on defense. 2,000-yard rusher Terrence Hill is also gone. But the Hearts still have plenty of playmakers back including starting quarterback Logan Wolfe. Effingham opens up with three straight home games (Mater Dei, Taylorville, Mt. Zion).
