Body of second missing man found in Lake Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A second body has been found in Lake Springfield after two boaters went missing.

The two men went missing on the water Sunday afternoon.

One man's body was recovered, but the second man was still missing until Monday afternoon, according to the Springfield Fire Department.

The Sangamon County Coroner identified the victims as 51-year-old Peter Sidener and 60-year-old Michael Daugherty, both from Springfield. Sidener was recovered on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. and Daugherty was discovered at noon on Monday. 

According to the coroner, the victims are acquaintances and no foul play is suspected at this time. 

Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday. 

Officials searched in the area just south of CWLP grounds. 

Searchers were assisted by Sangamon County Rescue Squad, Pawnee Firefighters, CWLP security, Springfield Police and DNR Officers.
